Protect Your Investment With Patio Furniture Covers

Sun and Winter Can Destroy Your Outdoor Furnishings

Furnishings for patios and decks on sale now at PatioFurnitureUSA.com.I just spent over $1000 on patio furniture! I needed to protect my investment. My husband insisted I purchase Patio Furniture Covers for each of our new patio furniture pieces. So, I got out my furniture catalogs and ordered matching covers for each item.

What a mistake ordering from that catalog turned out to be. And, I didn't even get a good discount! The first snow fall of the season and the cheap vinyl table cover I bought cracked and ripped.  I should have done my research and purchased covers that were durable and would last for years because the winter lasts for months here in the Rocky Mountains.

Before the next winter hit, I got on the Internet and did my homework. I purchased puncture resistant PVC vinyl covers with double stitches for my entire patio furniture collection. They are still hanging in there and my husband is much happier with my new purchase.

What are you Protecting?

No Covers on this furniture will cause damage by spring. For an attractive patio year round, it's important to assess your needs and then purchase a cover for each item on your patio. I decided to purchase a cover for everything on the patio at the same time so they all match and fit properly. I like the green and white striped, but you may prefer plain or printed covers for your patio furniture.

It is important to think about types of furniture and accessories you are covering. For example, when covering wrought iron furniture you want to make sure that the furniture is completely covered in high humidity climates when it is not in use. In the winter make sure the furniture is raised up from the patio or deck flooring using wood or cinder blocks. Then, check to see if you have enough covering to pull underneath the furniture. You want to do this to avoid having the furniture sit in standing water during thaw outs from the snow.

Consider the weather in your decision. I have been discussing winter snow, but those of you that live in dry sunny climates must also choose proper coverings. Many plastic covers will dry out, crack and split in arid sunny climates such as San Diego or Phoenix. In those locations, canvass type covers may work better.

You may find separate covers for each item are easier to install. The other option is where you push all the chairs under the table and cover the table, and chairs, with a large cover made for the job. Don't forget your ottoman; cushion storage, umbrella, fire pit or chiminea. There are custom shaped covers for all of them.

Durability Matters

Consider buying durable covers for each item on your patio to protect your investment year round. Make sure the covers are water proof, fade resistant, have UV inhibitor and carry a warranty. My covers even include air vents to resist mold and mildew. Do your homework and make the right decision the first time. It will make your life easier and will save you money in the long run.
